Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled CNC VTL Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC VTL machines to produce high-quality precision components. This role requires a deep understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and the ability to meet strict tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Setup and Operation:
Set up and operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) machines according to specifications and job requirements.
Install and align tools, fixtures, and workpieces with precision to ensure accurate machining.
Design and manufacture jigs or fixtures when required.
Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency standards, and safety policies established by ATCAM LLC.
Programming:
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to write or edit.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gages, and other precision measurement tools to ensure compliance with tolerances and specifications.
Perform in-process checks and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
Maintenance:
Perform routine machine maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspection for wear or damage.
Report and assist in troubleshooting mechanical or operational issues.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of setups, programs, and inspection results.
Follow company quality control standards and procedures.
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and resolve technical challenges.
Provide input on design improvements or modifications to enhance manufacturability.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a CNC machinist, with specific expertise in operating and programming CNC VTL machines.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
Skilled in CNC programming (G-code).
Familiarity with FANUC, Siemens, or other CNC control systems.
Education: Two-year technical training in machining or manufacturing preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolants, and oils.
Preferred:
Experience with materials, such as stainless steel, titanium, and other alloys.
Previous work in precision-driven industries.
Working knowledge of machine shop methods and procedures.
Ability to safely operate forklifts, rigging using straps/slings, use of overhead cranes and shop material handling equipment.
Ability to operate cutting equipment such as band and table saws.
