Position Purpose

Bid, estimate and design controls systems related to Bassett Mechanical projects. Position will also provide customer support for currently installed systems.

Position Responsibilities

  • Estimate controls system installations and start-up for construction projects.
  • Help with design of Building Automation & Controls installations including KMC, Niagra, Carrier and Bassett4Sight. 
  • Assist with creation of sequences of operations, wiring diagrams, flow charts, point lists, and system specifications for controls projects.
  • Size and select controls equipment necessary for each controls project.
  • Assist with creation of operations and maintenance manuals for all controls projects. 
  • Manage and assess project leads by meeting with the customer, gathering project information, and evaluating the requirements of the opportunity, along with our capabilities and capacity. 
  • For any controls project leads, assist with the development of the project design approach and project execution plan, estimating, and proposal: make effective sales presentations, and address questions and objections, tapping into technical and other internal resources as needed, to provide an effective solution.
  • Use CRM system to actively manage opportunity pipeline. 
  • Provide technical advice for construction project engineers and managers on controls systems.
  • Provide project management for replacement or retrofit projects.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Building Automation & Controls Department to discuss current and future project opportunities. 
  • Aggressively manage follow-up on submitted quotes and close sales. 
  • For controls projects executed and delivered, act as the primary point of contact at project close out to ensure customer expectations were met. 
  • Support and maintain a safe and Lean working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Preferred experience in controls systems bidding, sales and design experience.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in Building Automation and Controls/HVAC a plus. 
  • Interest in technical sales. 
  • Sales experience a plus. 
  • Ability to interpret drawings, equipment, and job conditions. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with standard computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
