Reporting to the Facilities Director, the Facilities Maintenance Technician I performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds.Hours: 3:30PM-12:00AM, Monday-Friday. Pager rotation schedule includes approximately 1 week out of every 4-6 weeks. Overtime as required
This position also includes: • $40 towards safety shoes each year. We also match up to $100 per year for uniform allowance. First 4 pairs of pants and 4 shirts are provided by the county upon hire. • 2nd shift employees receive $20 per month for the second shift premium, and they receive $2 per hour while on pager duty. Employees also receive their hourly rate or overtime pay for actual call in hours!Training: We have continuing educational opportunities available. Key Responsibilities: |
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. - Troubleshoot and make minor adjustments and repairs to boilers, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
- Checks, services and repairs pumps, fans, elevators, air conditioners, etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance to keep equipment clean and in good working condition.
- Perform painting and minor repairs to buildings, equipment and furniture.
- Perform moves of office furniture, supplies and equipement.
- Perform lawncare, landscaping and snow removal duties as required.Use computer to maintain records of work performed, access the building automation system, accessing blueprints and manuals, SDS sheets, email, time reporting and other common functions.
- Operate pickup trucks with snow plows and light snow removal equipment.
- Provides on-call coverage as assigned.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements: |
- High School graduate or G.E.D., with specialized classes in industrial arts or building trades; at least two years of experience in construction, remodeling or maintenance work, with particular experience in carpentry, plumbing, masonry and/or electrical work, and experience troubleshooting systems.
- Or, any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
- This position does require successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).
- Candidate must pass all county and federal background checks and fingerprint checks as a condition of employment.
- Possess a Valid Driver's License

Required or Preferred Skills: |
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to conform to goals, policies, and procedures of the Department as well as the Outagamie County Work Rules and Terms of Employment.
- Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of boilers.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of building systems and make repairs.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics and architectural drawings.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in general maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets and follow standard safety procedures.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to operate a light truck or other vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license.
- Ability to safely operate small power equipment such as lawnmowers, riding mowers, edgers, trimmers, etc.
- Ability to use and understand mechanical gauges.
- Ability to use computers for recordkeeping and operation of the building system.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, and work semi-independently.
- Skill in the use of tools.
- Ability to walk, stoop, climb, bend, stretch, push, pull and lift or otherwise move weights up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally understanding and utilizing proper body mechanics.
- Performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled facility related tasks.
- Approximately 80% of tasks are performed indoors and 20% outdoors.
- Operates various equipment, utilizes hand tools and works with computerized equipment.
- Work both as a team member and individually to serve the various facility related needs of the County.
- Operate County vehicles to perform work at various County building’s throughout the County.
