Job Title: Facility & Fabrication Technician
Reports To: Director of Facility & Fabrication
Status: On-Site, Full Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday with occasional weekends or evenings as needed
Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, hourly position at $21 - $25/hour.
Full-time benefits include 3.75 hours of PTO earned per biweekly pay period, 3 hours of Care/Sick time earned per biweekly pay period, 4 paid holidays, Health Insurance (75% paid by museum for employee, 50% paid by museum for qualifying dependents), short/long term disability, life insurance, and Simple IRA with 3% match. At the beginning of the year (January 2026), 3 floating holidays are earned as well.
Summary: The Facility & Fabrication technician will maintain and fabricate the immersive play-based learning environments and the physical infrastructure of one of the largest children’s museums in the state. This position will be a key part of the team that ensures safety, quality, and a dynamic space for kids and families.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and preventative maintenance on facility and exhibits
- Support the delivery, set-up, and breakdown of existing, new, and traveling exhibits
- Refurbish, modify, and improve existing exhibits, ensuring exhibits remain safe and fully operational
- Fabricate new exhibit components for internal and external projects
- Assist with event set up and tear down
- Other duties as assigned
Core Competencies & Experience
- Experience with carpentry, preventative maintenance, simple electrical, and various power tools
- Strong time management, customer service, and communication skills
- Dedication to safety for employees and museum visitors
- Available to work some weekends or evenings as needed
