Project Engineer

We are a family-oriented Midwest and East coast based company; with locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. As a result of our growth, we have a need for a Project Engineer.


We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater systems to manage and execute projects focused on improving water treatment, wastewater management, and infrastructure development. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth technical knowledge, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

What You Get To Do

Project Management:

Lead and manage water and wastewater projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring all phases are delivered according to specifications, within budget, and on schedule.

Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets, and report project status to stakeholders.

Coordinate with internal and external teams, including contractors, regulatory bodies, and vendors, to ensure timely and efficient project execution.

Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards, as well as all relevant codes, regulations, and standards.

Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Design & Engineering:

Oversee the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, pumping stations, and other related infrastructure.

Perform technical analysis, calculations, and modeling for water and wastewater systems to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance.

Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals and client requirements.

Assist in selecting equipment and materials for water and wastewater projects, ensuring they meet the technical specifications and industry standards.

Budget & Cost Management:

Prepare cost estimates and budget forecasts for water and wastewater projects.

Track and manage project costs, ensuring the project stays within budget.

Evaluate bids and contracts and provide recommendations for procurement of services and materials.

Quality Control & Assurance:

Implement quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards in engineering design, construction, and commissioning of water and wastewater systems.

Conduct inspections and testing of systems to ensure performance meets required specifications.

Other:

What We Need From You

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience, a minimum of 5 years’ in engineering roles focused on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Experience with design software and tools related to water and wastewater engineering.

Strong understanding of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment processes, and environmental regulations.

Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AWWA, ASCE, EPA regulations).

Excellent project management and organizational skills with experience handling large-scale projects.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Familiarity with construction and commissioning practices in the water and wastewater industry.

Experience with sustainable and green technologies in water treatment and wastewater management.

Familiarity with cost estimation, contract management, and procurement processes.

Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hydraulic modeling software.


Working Conditions

Work is generally performed in a typical office environment. The employee is occasionally required to work within the service area which requires personal protective equipment such as eye and foot protection.
