'26-'27 Innovate for Tomorrow / AI in Education and Business: Learning Together

Monday, November 9, 2026 (4:00 PM - 6:30 PM) (CST)

Description

AI is showing up everywhere, including in our schools and workplaces. But how it’s being approached can look very different depending on where you sit.

Join us for the next session of the Innovate for Tomorrow series as we bring educators and business partners together to talk about how they’re approaching AI.

The program starts with a practical overview of AI, "Learning with Machines," presented by Emmett Gordon, Sr. Manager Data Science at Jewelers Mutual. AI raises real questions about how people learn, and the answers are rarely simple. However, conversations go better and decisions get sharper when we know the details. This 20-minute overview covers how machines learn. Educators and business leaders will leave with a shared understanding of AI mechanics so the panel can focus on discussing when, where and how AI belongs in learning and at work.

Next you'll hear directly from people in education and business about what they’re seeing and experiencing. Panelists include:

  • Troy Beyer, Senior Director of Process Improvement, Galloway Company
  • Meghan Beeber, U.S. Venture
  • Scott Werfal - AASD Director Technology Services
  • Jennifer Buelow Fischer, AI Strategy and Process Optimization Manager, Fox Valley Technical College
  • Miles Lamensky, Wilson Middle School

They'll talk about:

  • How AI is being used in schools and businesses today
  • Where people are leaning in and where they’re more hesitant
  • The questions, concerns, and opportunities coming up in both spaces
  • Where education and business are approaching AI differently
  • What each can learn from the other

The goal isn’t to convince anyone how they should feel about AI or to have all the answers. It’s to get education and business in the same room, hear what’s actually happening in each space, and leave with a better understanding of how our community is approaching AI.

This session is ideal for educators, school leaders, business professionals, and community partners who are curious about how AI is being used and discussed across education and the workplace.
