Spierings Cancer Foundation (SCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by cancer. For decades, SCF has been a trusted force for good throughout Wisconsin—providing direct financial assistance to local families facing cancer, enhancing medical care for cancer patients in the Fox Cities, and funding critical cancer research across the state.

Position Overview

Title: Volunteer & Events Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Hybrid
Hours: 20 hours per week

The Volunteer & Events Manager plays a vital role in advancing SCF’s mission by supporting volunteers, coordinating community events, and fostering meaningful relationships. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, people-oriented, and motivated by purpose-driven work.

In this role, you will serve as a key connector—bringing together volunteers, donors, community partners, and staff to support families facing cancer. As the organization continues to grow, this role offers opportunities for increased responsibility and professional development.

Responsibilities

Event Engagement (Approximately 40% | 8 Hours Weekly)

Volunteers are central to SCF’s success, and this role serves as their primary point of contact.

  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Serving as the main liaison for all SCF volunteers
    • Recruiting, onboarding, training, and scheduling volunteers
    • Maintaining accurate volunteer records and databases
    • Building strong, ongoing relationships with individual volunteers and volunteer groups
    • Communicating regularly to promote engagement, satisfaction, and retention
    • Recognizing and celebrating volunteer contributions, including coordinating an annual volunteer appreciation event

Event Engagement (Approximately 40% | 8 Hours Weekly)

Community events are a cornerstone of SCF’s fundraising and outreach efforts.

  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Serving as the event manager for SCF’s annual Rock Cancer fundraiser
      • Scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and distributing meeting notes
      • Coordinating vendors, contracts, and event logistics
    • Supporting third-party fundraising events led by community partners
      • Collecting event details, updating the event calendar, and assisting with promotional content
    • Attending community events and representing Spierings Cancer Foundation as needed
    • Assisting with planning and execution of additional SCF events throughout the year

Administrative Support (Approximately 20% | 4 Hours Weekly)

This role also provides essential administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Maintaining contact records and donor information in Network for Good
    • Supporting the Executive Director with phone and email inquiries
    • Assisting with donor acknowledgments and tax receipts
    • Supporting mailings, including grant checks, fundraising campaigns, and event invitations

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with volunteers, events, or nonprofit organizations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort using Google Workspace and donor management or CRM systems
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for events

Compensation & Benefits
