McMahon has an immediate opening for a Wisconsin Land Surveyor in their Neenah, Wisconsin office. This position includes a blend of field and office responsibilities, encompassing boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, construction and right-of-way surveys. A Professional Land Surveyor license and a minimum of two years of experience are required. You will support a broad range of infrastructure and land development projects-including subdivision plats, public and private surveys, roadways, utilities, stormwater systems, commercial sites, and municipal improvements.


Responsibilities


  • Field Surveying
  • Perform surveys for site development, subdivision plats, public and private boundary surveys, roadway alignments, utilities, grading, and drainage projects.
  • Perform construction staking for engineering designs, including curb & gutter, utilities, building corners, and earthwork, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.

Operate and maintain total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, digital levels, and data collectors.

Establish horizontal and vertical control for engineering design and construction activities.

  • Conduct and review detailed field measurements, document existing site conditions, and ensure data integrity for engineering and survey deliverables.

Collect accurate field measurements and document existing site conditions.


  • Office & Technical Support

Process field data for engineering design teams.

Knowledge of AutoCAD software, Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center software.

Prepare base maps, existing-condition surveys, boundary surveys, subdivision plats, legal descriptions right-of-way surveys, and topographic maps.

Support civil engineering by providing survey information needed for specific project needs.

Research public/private survey records.

Prepare data for construction staking needs.

Maintain detailed and organized field notes, sketches, and logs.


  • Collaboration

Work closely with land surveyors, civil engineers, project managers, drafters, and designers to ensure accurate survey data is used in design plans.

Provide mentorship and technical guidance to survey staff.

Participate in training to gain proficiency in advanced surveying methods and software.


Qualifications


Associate or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

2 years of experience performing topographic, boundary, construction, and control surveys.

Proficiency operating total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, digital levels, and data collectors.

Ability to perform construction staking for utilities, curb & gutter, building corners, and earthwork.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions and lift to 50lbs.

Strong math, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.

Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to project sites, and a driving record that meets company insurance standards.

Applicants must demonstrate a consistent record of working safely in the field.

Experience processing field data and preparing survey deliverables using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center.

Ability to prepare base maps, existing-condition surveys, boundary surveys, subdivision plats, legal descriptions, right‑of‑way surveys, and topographic maps.

Familiarity with researching public and private survey records.

Ability to prepare and organize data for construction staking.

Strong documentation skills, including maintaining detailed field notes, sketches, and logs.
