Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction to host free racewalking clinic, panel led by Olympic trial qualifier

Racewalking clinic and interactive panel to provide competitive walkers with actionable tips

The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction will host a free racewalking clinic to help walkers looking to improve their racewalking technique. The clinic will be led by two-time U.S. Olympic trials qualifier, three-time national champion and 2028 USA Olympic team hopeful, Jordan Crawford, and will feature a panel of two top-placing racewalkers in the ThedaCare Half Marathon Competitive Walk. The event will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 10 a.m. at Community First Credit Union’s headquarters, located at 1575 Dresang Way in Neenah (map).

While the racewalking clinic is free, participants are asked to register by visiting www.foxcitiesmarathon.org/training-events/race-walking-clinic/.

Prior to the clinic instruction, Community First headquarters will host a panel featuring Crawford, Mike Brown, who placed third in the men’s division of the 2025 half marathon competitive walk, and Melanie Wroblewski, the overall first-place winner of the same event.

Following the panel, Crawford, a USA Track & Field certified race walk official and winner of the 2025 ThedaCare Half Marathon Competitive Walk, will lead this one-hour-long, outdoor training session.

“We’re proud to offer opportunities like this clinic that help participants improve their performance and introduce more people to the sport of racewalking,” said Julie Johnson, race director for the Fox Cities Marathon. “By bringing in accomplished athletes like Jordan Crawford and highlighting the success of local competitors, we’re continuing to grow an event that welcomes participants of all abilities and creates unique experiences for our running and walking community.”

During the racewalking clinic, Crawford will be actively assisting racewalkers in refining their form. This interactive clinic, featuring live demonstrations, will require active participation from attendees who will be practicing walking techniques in real time. To get the most out of this engaging session, participants are encouraged to come prepared with proper footwear for walking, dressed in comfortable attire and equipped with sun protection and a water bottle.

All paces and levels of racewalkers are welcome, from those curious about the sport to those who actively compete in racewalking. Attendees of the racewalking clinic can look forward to an immersive learning experience that covers:

  • Proper racewalking techniques
  • Strength training exercises for racewalkers
  • Rules of competitive racewalking
  • Appropriate racewalking shoes and attire
  • Best racewalking practices from Crawford, Brown and Wroblewski
