Appleton Downtown, Inc. (ADI) is excited to bring the Light the Night Market, presented by Fox Communities Credit Union, back to Downtown Appleton to kick off the summer season. Appleton Downtown, Inc. transforms Downtown Appleton into an open-air market on Friday, May 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Performances by local artists and entertainers, local vendors, cultural performances, food trucks, hands-on activities, and more will fill College Avenue with excitement and fun! This event has no admission fee and is open to the general public. Food, beverages, and local, handmade goods are available for purchase.
“This event has quickly become one of our most popular events throughout the year.” said Abby Novak, Marketing Director for Appleton Downtown, Inc.” “There is something there for everyone to enjoy and it’s free to attend. It’s a great way to kick off the summer season in Downtown Appleton showcasing everything that we have to offer.” said Novak.
This month’s event will feature a Renaissance flair with unique features including sword swallowers, LARP, turkey legs, maypole dancing, and more! The Houdini Plaza stage features Stoopid Human Tricks - Sword Swallower, Angel & Rondini the Magician, Oak Apple Morris Dance Group, and Irish band, Whiskey of the Damned.
Other performers and activities on the street and in the plaza include Aerial Performers with Fly Circus Aerial Arts, sponsored by Kelly Davies Real Estate, Bombastic Bubble Show with Angel, LARPing in Houdini Plaza, Cloud Nine Fire Show on Morrison Street, Fairy Characters, Traveling Snake Show, the Super Moon, sponsored by BMO Bank, Mischief & Magic-LED Wall, face painting, balloon animals, and flower crown making with Hazelmade Art Studio (while supplies last).
The featured ride this year is a pirate ship, which will transport riders to the open seas by swinging back and forth. Rides are $2 per person per ride. Riders must be 42” tall or ride with an adult.
