FREE SMALL BUSINESS CLINIC JANUARY 22 FOND DU LAC

Expert help in one place with starting a business, financials, marketing & A.I.

The Office of Business & Entrepreneurship (OBE) along with the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Oshkosh and Envision Greater Fond du Lac will host a Small Business Clinic – free to all participants – on Thursday, January 22, at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac.

This FREE Small Business Clinic will take place from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM and is a ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ for entrepreneurs. Come for the day or for a specific session. Participants can schedule 30-minute individual sessions with consultants to discuss starting a business, financials, marketing, home baking businesses, international trade, or legal matters in a group setting. The clinic will include educational sessions on business planning, taxes, workforce development, financial record keeping, legal topics, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.

"Your entrepreneurial journey doesn't have to be a solo adventure,” said Dan Brosman, strategic projects associate director, OBE, and event organizer. “Our clinic provides the roadmap, resources, and community support you need to succeed."

“Our mission at the UW-Oshkosh SBDC is to meet entrepreneurs where they are and give them the clarity and support they need to take their next step, “ said Chad Kopitzke, center director. “Events like this bring together the expertise, tools, and connections that entrepreneurs need to move forward with confidence. Whether someone is validating an idea or scaling an existing venture, we’re committed to ensuring they have access to trusted, local guidance every step of the way.”

Envision Greater Fond du Lac is co-hosting the event. Formed in 2017, Envision Greater Fond du Lac is the unifed organization of the former Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce and the former Fond du Lac County Economic Development organization.

"Envision has a large focus on small business and entrepreneurship,” said Sadie Howell, president and CEO. “That is what this program is built for. Bringing together knowledge, networking, and resources is important in every free-market economy and we are glad to have this event in our community."

In addition to the 30-minute appointments, participants may choose to attend lecture-style group sessions featuring General Business Law with UW Madison’s Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, Business Planning 101, Financial Records, Statements and Strategy, A.I. for Your Business, LLC Formation Lab, Food Finance Institute and Cottage Industry 101, Optimizing Your Business Marketing Strategy, Business Taxes with the Department of Revenue, and Entrepreneurial Resources in your Local Library.

Roughen-Schmidt (ROWAN-Schmidt) serves as one of the event organizers and as a Business Consultant with the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI). She will be available for free and confidential small business consulting that day. Contact her via email: nora.roughen-schmidt@business.wisconsin.edu to schedule time with her.

“Whether you’re curious about where to start, or you’re ready to make a leap, our experts are here to offer trusted insights and industry-specific advice, free of charge,” added Roughen-Schmidt. “Small Business Clinics give participants the opportunity to check off everything on their to-do lists through education, inspiration, and resources, whether you’re starting a business or expanding an existing business.”
