Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity, a leader in affordable housing solutions, is proud to be collaborating with the City of Menasha on a brand-new neighborhood revitalization project. This initiative will enhance curb appeal while preserving housing in the community. With $100,000 designated for home improvements, Fox Cities Habitat is excited to make a lasting difference for Menasha residents for years to come while being a one-stop shop for those seeking home repair needs in Outagamie, Calumet, Waupaca and Northern Winnebago counties.
“Keeping housing viable is not just about building new homes,” explained John Weyenberg, CEO of Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity. “Preserving and enhancing existing homes is just as important in creating and maintaining a vibrant community. Habitat’s mission is to ensure everyone has a decent place to live, and that is exactly what this partnership provides for residents of Menasha.”
Fox Cities Habitat and Menasha's partnership will demonstrate how municipalities and nonprofits can effectively collaborate to address housing challenges.
“By partnering with Fox Cities Habitat on this initiative, we unlock the skills, expertise and programming support that reinforce our commitment to preserving the housing market in the City of Menasha. We are a landlocked community and cannot grow outward, so we must preserve what we have,” explained City of Menasha Mayor Austin Hammond. “With tight finances, some homeowners face unexpected or out-of-reach projects. Residents have come to the City of Menasha for assistance programs in addressing these concerns, and this partnership provides another option for residents to improve their homes while ensuring the support they need is delivered.”
This partnership with Fox Cities Habitat adds to the City of Menasha’s long-standing commitment to neighborhood support through two other programs available to residents:
· The Strong Neighborhoods Program: Launched in 2020, this program focuses on improving attractiveness and affordability of Menasha’s housing stock and aims to work with citizens to invest in both them and their homes.
· Project Front Porch: An initiative designed to improve housing conditions, foster neighborhood pride, connect residents to local resources and enhance the overall image of the City of Menasha.
Fox Cities Habitat understands home repairs are often needed and can be hard to afford. It helps homeowners in Outagamie, Calumet, Waupaca and Northern Winnebago counties fix serious problems with their homes through its Home Repair Program. Repairs Fox Cities Habitat can help with include:
· Roof repairs or replacements
· Leaky pipes, water heaters or other plumbing problems
· Heating or electrical issues
· Broken stairs, unsafe floors or trip hazards
· Accessibility, including bathrooms, doorways, ramps, lifts and grab bars
· Mold or lead paint concerns
· Window and door repairs
· Exterior repairs for porches, siding, soffit, fascia, gutters and more
In addition to this new community partnership, Fox Cities Habitat is also proud to bring its popular Rock the Block program back to Menasha this May. Rock the Block helps homeowners with critical home repairs and curb appeal projects, which will help further the City of Menasha’s revitalization efforts.
