Smith, an accomplished musician and the brother of Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, will lead an interactive session focused on the creative process behind writing original music. Drawing from his experience performing and writing on the road, Smith will share practical techniques, creative insights, and real-world perspective on what it takes to develop songs that connect.
Smith is the guitarist and a backing vocalist for Kitty Soft Paw, the Milwaukee-based indie rock band known for their hook-laden originals, tight harmonies, and genuinely memorable live shows. He’s also the band’s primary contact for booking and strategy. Smith developed the T.R.A.K.T. (Tempo, Rhythm, Arrangement, Key, Time Signature) songwriting framework he’ll share during this clinic.

Smith will also take the stage later that evening with his band for a live performance at Appleton Beer Factory at 7:00 PM.
Kitty Soft Paw is set to release their first full-length album, Catalyst, in spring 2026, marking a major milestone for the band. In support of the release, they will embark on a Midwest tour, bringing their dynamic, genre-blending sound to audiences across the region.
