What was once known as the Thompson Center on Lourdes has officially entered a new chapter as the Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center. While the name has changed, the mission has not. The rebrand is rooted in a renewed vision for what healthy, vibrant aging looks like in the Fox Valley.
Named in honor of longtime educator and philanthropist Mary Beth Nienhaus, the center’s transformation represents more than just a new logo or building. It’s a reflection of purpose.
“I didn’t take the naming lightly,” said Nienhaus. “This isn’t about me, it’s about what the center stands for: inclusion, energy, and lifelong growth for older adults.”
The center’s new butterfly logo was intentionally chosen to symbolize transformation and vitality at every age. The rebrand underscores the center’s commitment to adults 50 and older who are looking for connection, wellness, and continued purpose.
By 2027, one in three Fox Cities residents will be 55 or older, creating an urgent demand. The newly constructed, accessible facility at 3000 E. College Avenue includes modern amenities, wellness programming, tech-equipped classrooms, and space for art, recreation, and lifelong learning.
“This rebrand isn’t about erasing the past. It’s about stepping into the future with intention,” said Nienhaus. “We want every person who walks through our doors to feel seen, supported, and inspired to keep growing.”
All contributions made to the Mary Beth Nienhaus Activity Center are tax-deductible and can be pledged over the course of up to three years. Donors who give $1,000 or more will be honored on a permanent Donor Wall in the new center.
