Families are invited to travel back in time and explore the prehistoric world during “Prehistoric Pets at the Library,” a live animal experience presented by J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue at the Kimberly Public Library on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Due to anticipated interest, the program will be offered twice, with presentations scheduled from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM at 515 W Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, WI 54136.
Part of the Summer Reading Program, Prehistoric Pets introduces audiences to living descendants of ancient creatures and explores how reptiles, amphibians, and other fascinating animals connect us to the age of dinosaurs. Through up-close encounters and interactive learning opportunities, attendees will discover the remarkable adaptations that have helped these species survive for millions of years.
The program will feature:
“Many of today’s animals have roots that stretch back to prehistoric times,” said Megan Anderson, Education Specialist at J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue. “This program gives families a chance to meet these incredible animals up close while learning about evolution, conservation, and the natural world.”
The event is designed for curious minds of all ages and offers a fun, engaging way to combine science, history, and live animal encounters during summer break.
Many summer programs at Kimberly Public Library reach room capacity. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best chance of admission.
