“Prehistoric Pets” Tour Brings Live Animal Adventures to Kaukauna and Gillett Libraries

Families across Northeast Wisconsin are invited to travel back in time this summer as J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue presents “Prehistoric Pets at the Library,” a live animal educational experience connecting modern animals to the prehistoric world. On Friday, June 12, 2026, the organization will host three free presentations in Kaukauna and Gillett as part of local Summer Reading Programs.

Through live animal encounters and hands-on learning opportunities, attendees will discover how reptiles, amphibians, and other fascinating creatures still share traits with the animals that lived during the age of dinosaurs.

The interactive programs will feature:

  • Live animals that share traits with prehistoric species
  • Hands-on learning and up-close encounters
  • Fun and educational facts about evolution, adaptation, and survival
  • Opportunities for photos and questions during the presentations

“Programs like Prehistoric Pets help make science exciting and accessible for families,” said Megan Anderson, Education Specialist at J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue. “By meeting these incredible animals up close, attendees can better understand how species have changed and adapted over millions of years.”

The programs are designed for curious minds of all ages and offer a fun way for families to explore wildlife, history, and conservation during summer break. No registration is required.
