The MCW-Prevea Green Bay Family Medicine Residency Program is pleased to welcome six new physicians to its incoming class: Sahitya Dusa, MD; Jill Schuster-Syed, DO; Royces Puno, MD; David Kufner, DO; Brandon Harrison, MD; and Nadya Razlog-Novitchi, MD.
Each year, this three-year training program accepts six medical school graduates who are interested in the field of family medicine. Under the supervision of experienced faculty physicians and community preceptors, these residents provide direct medical care to local patients while completing their advanced family medicine training.
“Our family medicine residency program brings world-class medical training to Green Bay, expanding patient access and comprehensive primary care,” said Dr. John Hayes, Director of the MCW-Prevea Green Bay Family Medicine Residency Program. “By offering a robust clinical training program, residents are equipped with the full-spectrum of skills needed to practice anywhere – from large high-acuity hospitals to small-town rural clinics. This vital pipeline not only strengthens the local healthcare infrastructure today but secures a healthier future for Northeast Wisconsin.”
Established in 2021 as the first program of its kind in the Green Bay region, this residency program has welcomed more than 30 physicians to the area. Beyond providing advanced clinical training, the program is designed to directly address primary care and physician shortages across Northeast Wisconsin, particularly in rural communities.
Fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the program operates as a collaborative partnership between Prevea Health, MCW, the Wisconsin Northern and Central GME Consortium (WiNC), and HSHS St. Vincent Hospital. Residents train at the Prevea East Mason Health Center, as well as other Prevea Health centers, HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, and HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital.
“One of our program’s greatest contributions is not just training a steady stream of new physicians, but inspiring them to build their lives and careers right here in our local communities,” said Dr. Ashok Rai, President and CEO of Prevea Health. “With a national physician shortage limiting patient access to primary care, Prevea is actively trying to increase the number of physicians right here in Northeast Wisconsin, for both the short and long-term.”
The program operates its primary clinical care out of the Prevea East Mason Health Center (3021 Voyager Drive, Green Bay), offering a full suite of primary care services for both adults and children.
