YMCA of the Fox Cities Celebrates Leadership, Service, and Community Impact at 136th Annual Meeting

The YMCA of the Fox Cities hosted its 136th Annual Meeting on April 17, 2025, at the West Rivery Edison, celebrating another year of strengthening community through the power of belonging, leadership, and service. The evening was marked by heartfelt recognition of dedicated board members, community leaders, and inspiring stories that showcase the Y’s mission in action.

"At the YMCA of the Fox Cities, our strength comes from the people who lead with heart and vision. Tonight, we celebrate those who have shaped our journey and welcome those who will carry our mission forward. Every story, like Jared’s, reminds us that when individuals are empowered to grow and belong, entire communities are strengthened. That’s the true power of the Y." — Bret Salscheider, President/CEO, YMCA of the Fox Cities

Welcoming New Board Leadership

The YMCA proudly announced the election of four new Board members who will begin three-year terms:

  • Sandy Fragale – OSMS
  • Tammy Williams – Capital Credit Union
  • Amy Pfefferle-Oelhafen – NAI Pfefferle
  • Michael Lokensgard – Godfrey Kahn

Additionally, current Board members Ryan Thompson, Scott Steinfort, and Eric Lempke were re-elected for second terms, with Eric also stepping into the role of Treasurer. Their leadership will be instrumental in guiding the Y’s future efforts to serve more individuals and families across the Fox Cities.

Honoring Outgoing Board Members

The event also celebrated the service of three outstanding leaders concluding their terms:

  • Beth Burns, whose thoughtful leadership on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee helped make the Y a more welcoming and inclusive space.
  • Rick Hearden, a champion for resource development and community connection.
  • Tom Mangold, who guided the Y through challenging times as Chair of the Finance Committee with integrity and vision.

While they are stepping down from their Board roles, each will continue contributing through leadership on various committees, embodying the Y spirit of lifelong community engagement.

Celebrating Steve Morton’s Leadership at the Y

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Tom Prosser Leadership Award (Neenah-Menasha YMCA) to the family of the late Steve Morton. This award is a tribute to outstanding service and legacy Steve left at the Y. His enduring commitment to the Y’s mission exemplified the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility that define YMCA leadership.

A Mission in Action: Jared’s Story

In a moving mission moment, attendees were introduced to Jared, a dedicated Y volunteer from Lakeside Packaging Plus. As a person with diverse abilities, Jared has found purpose and growth through his volunteer work at the Y. His story demonstrates the profound impact of inclusive environments, where individuals of all abilities can learn, contribute, and thrive.
