Music & Theater
The Appleton MacDowell Male Chorus is a voluntary fellowship of men whose primary purpose is the presentation of professional performances in male choral singing to create a greater interest in music for our community. The Chorus, composed of men of amateur or professional status who enjoy singing, is open to men of all backgrounds seeking an opportunity to sing after their high school years. In carrying out its mission, the chorus also seeks opportunities to return to the Fox Cities Communities some of the support it has received from them. This is accomplished, in part, via scholarships given to local students, donation of musical talents to local churches, participation in events such as Symphony Under the Stars and Bike to the Beat, participation in Honor Flight returns to Appleton, and more.
Founded and have performed continuously since 1934
Founding member of the Association of American Male Choruses (AMCofA)
Will be hosting AMCofA "Big Sing" at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on April 25, 2026
Annual concerts in Appleton are usually in the Spring at Lawrence University Chapel and other venues
We donate our talents to local churches regularly, and volunteer our music to events such as:
- Symphony Under the Stars with the Fox Valley Symphony
- Fox Community Credit Union's Bike to the Beat
- Old Glory Honor Flights in Appleton
- "mini-concerts" at venues such as King Veterans' Home and various area retirement homes
We often travel for performances, appearing in Eau Claire, Three Lakes, Eagle River, Wauwatosa, Hartford, Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Tomahawk, and Green Bay, WI; Iron Mountain and Crystal Falls, MI; Jamestown, ND; and more
We support and encourage all worthy musical projects, concerts, and performing groups in our community
